Stage door notice

How Cookies Work Here

Most cookie notices run for pages, mostly because there is so much hidden behind them. This notice is brief, and the reason is simple: there is hardly anything to declare. Here is exactly what this site stores on your device and why.

Cookies and local storage in a nutshell

Cookies are tiny snippets a website stores via your browser, which then hands them back with each later request. Local storage is a similar space inside your browser where a page can save a little information, with one difference: what goes in there remains on your machine instead of riding along with requests. Either one can hold a handy preference or follow you around the web, and here they only ever do the first job.

What this site stores

ItemTypePurposeHow long
Banner choiceLocal storageRemembers that you answered the small card, so it stops askingUntil you clear your browser's site data

Nothing else sits in that table. You will not meet measurement cookies, ad cookies, social network cookies or hidden pixels on these pages. We do not set cookies to measure how many people read an article or where they came from.

Why ask at all?

Because we think it is polite to tell you what happens on your device, even when the honest answer is one small line of storage. The card is also our way of pointing you to this page and to Privacy & Data if you want the full picture.

Clicking a link to another site

Plenty of our articles carry links to outside pages. When you visit those sites, they may set their own cookies under their own rules, which we do not control. Their cookie and privacy notices explain what they do.

Removing the saved choice

You can delete the banner setting whenever you like. In most browsers you will find the option under settings for privacy, site data or website storage, where you can clear data for this site alone. After that, the card will simply appear once more on your next visit. A private or incognito window behaves the same way, since it forgets your click as soon as you close it.

Blocking storage completely

If your browser blocks local storage, the site still works normally. The only difference is that the card may reappear on each page, since there is nowhere for your answer to be remembered.
